Honoring Karl Jonske ’99

Everywhere you look in the US Library this month, you’ll see books bearing the special Karl Jonske Collection bookplate.  What is all this about?

Some of our recent additions to Karl’s collection.

Karl was a 1999 graduate of Catlin Gabel who devoured books, especially Science Fiction and Fantasy titles.  After his death in 2002, the family established a memorial in the form of a generous gift to the Upper School Library.  Every year, we purchase around 100 books, with input from our students, specifically for their reading pleasure.  These books have formed the backbone of our Summer Borrowing program over the past several years.  The Middle School Library now buys books each year in Karl’s honor.

FACT:  Nearly 1000 books in the US Library bear a Karl Jonske Collection bookplate.

Yesterday we welcomed author M.T. Anderson to campus as our annual Jonske speaker.  If you’d like to check out any of his titles, come visit the US or MS libraries.
